Benjamin Franklin was many things (politician, inventor, diplomat) but one of the most apropriate hats he woore was that of vocal critique of arbitrary authority. These letters he submitted to his brother’s paper under the pen-name Silence Dogood, lay down valuable principles that are well worth a re-read in today’s post 9/11 society.
